Lourenco Goncalves , , , Chairman, President, and CEO

Lourenco Goncalves was appointed Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cliffs in August 2014. Since joining the company, he has implemented and has been executing a strategic initiative designed to strengthen Cliffs’ position as a major supplier of iron ore pellets to the U.S. steel industry.

Mr. Goncalves brings more than 30 years of experience in the metals and mining industries, as well as extensive Board experience, in the United States and abroad. He served as Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Metals USA Holdings Corp., a leading American manufacturer and processor of steel and other metals, for over 10 years. He currently sits on the Board of the American Iron and Steel Institute, and served as a board member of Ascometal SAS, a manufacturer of special steel headquartered in Paris, France, from October 2011 to April 2014. He is also a Distinguished Member and Fellow of the Association for Iron and Steel Technology.

Prior to Metals USA, Mr. Goncalves served as President and Chief Executive Officer of California Steel Industries, Inc. from March 1998 to February 2003. From 1981 to 1998 he was employed by Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional, a leading steel and mining company in Brazil, where he held several positions in operations and sales.

Mr. Goncalves earned a Masters of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, Brazil and a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Military Institute of Engineering in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Terry Fedor , , , Executive Vice President, United States Iron Ore

Terry Fedor was appointed to the position of Executive Vice President – U.S. Iron Ore in January 2014, and maintains leadership oversight for U.S. Iron Ore operations, as well as transportation and logistics functions, supply chain and asset management. Prior to his current position, Mr. Fedor was Vice President – Metallics for Cliffs.

He has over 25 years of experience in industrial operations, having served as Vice President and General Manager – Cleveland at ArcelorMittal with responsibility for Warren, Weirton and Monessen steel operations.

Mr. Fedor earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio and a master’s degree in business administration from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a Registered Professional Engineer with the state of Ohio, and currently serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Association for Iron & Steel Technology.

Timothy K. Flanagan , , , Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer

Mr. Flanagan has executive responsibility for Finance, Accounting, Tax, Treasury and Investor Relations within Cliffs. He has served in a variety of financial leadership roles since joining Cliffs in 2008, most recently as Vice President, Corporate Controller, Treasurer and Chief Accounting Officer, responsible for the accounting, reporting, treasury and financial planning and analysis functions. He also previously served as the Assistant Controller and Director of Internal Audit.

Prior to his tenure at Cliffs, Mr. Flanagan spent eight years providing external audit and consulting services to large public multi-national companies across a number of disciplines including accounting, internal audit and risk management while employed at Arthur Andersen and Protiviti, respectively.

Mr. Flanagan has a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Dayton and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Ohio.

James Graham , , , Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer & Secretary

James Graham is Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer & Secretary of Cliffs, responsible for ensuring coordinated legal advice and counsel, and overseeing public reporting requirements and administration of Cliffs’ code of business conduct and ethics compliance program. He also provides direct corporate secretarial support to the Board of Directors and its Committees.

Mr. Graham joined Cliffs in 2007 as Assistant General Counsel, and prior to his current position, advised Cliffs' operating and acquisitions units on legal matters as Vice President & General Counsel, Global Operations. Before his tenure with Cliffs, Mr. Graham worked as an associate with the law firm of Calfee Halter & Griswold.

Mr. Graham earned his J.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University, his M.A. in French Literature from the University of Michigan, and his B.A. degree in English and French from Hiram College.

Maurice Harapiak , , , Executive Vice President, Human Resources

Mr. Harapiak was appointed to the position of Executive Vice President, Human Resources in June 2014. He is responsible for overseeing Cliffs’ human resources function, including talent acquisition and development, organizational development, labor relations, compensation and benefits functions, ensuring their alignment with the Company’s business strategy. He has over 25 years of human resources experience in the project and operating environments of large, multi-national mining companies.

Prior to joining Cliffs, Mr. Harapiak worked at Barrick Gold Corporation, most recently overseeing 7,000 international employees in the Company’s largest region as Regional Director, HR – North America. During his tenure with Barrick, he provided HR leadership for capital and exploration projects, as well as work as a member of acquisition and integration teams.

Mr. Harapiak was also President of Del Mar HR Consulting Ltd, specializing in the support of mining and construction sector clients operating in N. America and internationally, and served in operational and human resources management roles for Anglo American and Echo Bay Mines Ltd. He received his bachelor’s degree in public administration/business from the University of Saskatchewan.

Terrence Mee , , , Executive Vice President – Global Commercial

Terry Mee has executive oversight for commercial sales for Cliffs’ products, including strategic customer alignment for sales of iron ore in the North American and seaborne markets. He was promoted to his current position in October 2014, after having held positions of progressively increasing responsibility since joining Cliffs in 1997 as a finance associate.

Mr. Mee earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Ohio Wesleyan University and an MBA (Finance) from Case Western Reserve University. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Mr. Mee is a member of American Iron and Steel Institute, Steel Manufacturers Association and Eastern States Blast Furnace and Cokemaking Association.

Clifford T. Smith , , , Executive Vice President, Business Development

Mr. Smith has leadership for developing emerging business opportunities to grow Cliffs’ U.S. domestic market. Before Mr. Smith’s most recent appointment, he held the role of Executive Vice President, Seaborne Iron Ore, where he had oversight for the Company’s international operations in Australia and Canada. Mr. Smith joined Cliffs in 2003, holding several senior level positions, including global responsibility for operations and business development. He also led the exploration and development activities of the Company’s global exploration group. In addition, Mr. Smith previously served as Vice President, Latin American operations and technical, and General Manager of business development for Cliffs. Prior to joining Cliffs, Mr. Smith held mine management positions with Asarco and South Peru Copper Corporation.

P. Kelly Tompkins , , , Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Tompkins holds executive responsibility for Cliffs' U.S. Iron Ore and Asia Pacific Iron Ore Operations, as well as the Commercial and Business Development functions.

Before his most recent appointment at Cliffs, he served as chief financial officer, along with executive vice president roles in business development, commercial, legal and government affairs. He also was Chief Administrative Officer and President of Cliffs China.

Mr. Tompkins joined Cliffs in May 2010, having previously been executive vice president and chief financial officer for RPM International Inc., a NYSE-listed, global specialty chemical company. Prior to becoming RPM’s chief financial officer, Mr. Tompkins served as RPM’s chief administrative officer and senior vice president and general counsel. Before joining RPM in 1996, he held various legal and management positions with Cleveland-based Reliance Electric Company and Exxon Corporation in Houston, Texas.

Mr. Tompkins received his B.A. degree from Mercyhurst College and his J.D. degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1981. Mr. Tompkins is currently engaged with a number of organizations in Northeast Ohio, serving as Chair of the Advisory Council for the Baldwin-Wallace University Center for Innovation & Growth and Chair of the Board of Directors of Magnificat High School, the largest all-girl Catholic high school in Ohio. Mr. Tompkins is a Director of the Great Lakes Science Center and of the Cleveland State University Foundation as well as a Trustee of the Playhouse Square Foundation and a Co-Chair of the United Way’s Humanitarian Society. In 2005-2006, Mr. Tompkins served as the 95th president of the Cleveland Bar Association and currently serves on the National Advisory Council of Cleveland-Marshall Law School and Co-Chairs its annual campaign to support its Fund for Excellence. He is a past Trustee of the Alzheimer’s Association and past Director of the University Hospitals Case Medical Center. Mr. Tompkins is a recipient of numerous awards, most recently receiving the Alzheimer’s Association Champion Award (2012); and the ORT Jurisprudence Award (2012).
