Mountain State Carbon

Mountain State Carbon is located on the Ohio River in Follansbee, West Virginia. In 2017, Mountain State celebrated its 100th anniversary in the community.

The facility is well known for its outstanding furnace coke quality and operators with decades of experience. Employees are committed to delivering the highest quality products, as defined by the ISO 9001:2008 Standard, and our customers.

The site has one six-meter battery and three three-meter batteries. Its location supports truck, rail, and barge transportation and is near Route US 22/30 and Ohio Route 7.

Monessen

Monessen is a conventional coke plant producing very high-quality coke and related carbon by-products. This facility is located in Monessen, Pennsylvania, along the Monongahela River in the southwest region of the state.

The facility's proximity to the river and Monessen's central location to numerous blast furnaces provide enhanced distribution options and freight cost savings compared to the facility's foreign and domestic competition.

Princeton

Princeton is a coal mine in Princeton, West Virginia, that specializes in surface and underground mining of coal to produce coke and pulverized coal injection (PCI). The majority of the production is consumed at Cleveland-Cliffs facilities.

Raw Material Operations

Warren

Warren is a coke plant where metallurgical-grade coal is converted into coke. The plant is located in Warren, Ohio. Its location allows for easy access to coal fields in the Appalachian region, as well as steel mills from Indiana. Warren produces coke primarily for Cleveland-Cliffs’ Cleveland Works blast furnaces.
